Abenaki Mattress Race Update

The 1st Annual Abenaki Mattress Race ( hosted by the Friends of Abenaki) has unfortunately been complicated due to insurance issues. So while we won't be sending any people on mattresses down the hill, we will be sending..... CRASH TEST DUMMIES on your mattresses (wrapped with whatever you like to speed it up: tarp, plastic sheeting, etc... )



The Rules have changed since we won't be sending humans down the hill: 

  • Bring the same mattress you were planning on bringing for the Mattress Race
  • We'll have a crash test dummy here. 
  • Teams will hike the mattress up the hill and send it (with the Crash Test Dummy) down over our Big Air Jump. 
  • We'll have scoring for best time, best crash and biggest air off of the big air jump.
  • We can take your old mattress and dispose of it. 

 

Abenaki Snowmaking Celebration

As part of the event, we'll also be hosting a ceremony to celebrate the newly installed snowmaking system, complete with demonstration ski runs from the Abenaki Ski Team racing and freestyle divisions, burgers on the grill, music and hopefully some sunshine! The celebrations start at 10:30am here at Abenaki Ski Area.  



The Ski Area opens for business at 11am and we have great conditions with a full terrain park (4 jumps, 2 boxes, 2 rails) and Freeway and Headwall Trails open as well as the Main Slope and Kiddie Hill. There's also a 1 mile XC ski loop starting at the Abenaki base area that has plenty of snow for XC skiing. So come join us for what looks like a beautiful weekend here in Wolfeboro.
